"KABUL, May 31 (Xinhua) -- A contract helicopter used by NATO- led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) made a hard landing in Afghanistan's eastern Paktia province claiming the life of a civilian on the ground, ISAF said in a press release received here Monday.
The press release said the incident took place on Sunday in Jaji district of Paktia province.
"A civilian on the ground was killed when he was struck by debris, and three crew members received minor injuries," it said.
The press release ruled out involvement of insurgent's hostile fire by saying "There were no reports of insurgent involvement, and the incident is currently under investigation."
Taliban militants, according to Afghan media, have claimed responsibility for the attack by saying the militants shot down a NATO chopper in Paktia province inflicting casualties on the foreign forces.
Eastern Afghanistan has seen escalating Taliban-led violence and attacks since the hardliner Islamic militia announced to launch a spring offensive against Afghan and international troops in post-Taliban Afghanistan."
